Results of the First Economic Research Competition for students and doctoral researchers at Russian universities

The Bank of Russia and the Russian Journal of Money and Finance have announced the results of the First Economic Research Competition for students and doctoral researchers at Russian universities.
The Competition was announced at the end of 2018, and the jury chose the three best papers from the 80 submitted. The jury included economists from the Bank of Russia and editors and co-editors of the Russian Journal of Money and Finance, all active researchers and academics.
Prizewinners:
First prize: Ivan Suvorov (New Economic School) for his paper ‘Expected and Unexpected Consequences of the Russian Pension Increase in 2010’.
Second prize: Alexander Tishin (New Economic School) for his paper ‘Monetary Policy Surprises in Russia’.
Third prize: Pavel Dovbnya (New Economic School) for his paper ‘Announcements of Sanctions and the Russian Equity Market: An Event Study Approach’.
The winners were invited to take part in the Bank of Russia’s special events, held in St. Petersburg on July 2–5: the III Macroeconomics Summer School, the International Research Conference, and the International Financial Congress.
On July 2, at the opening of the Summer School, Ksenia Yudaeva, Bank of Russia First Deputy Governor and Chief Editor of the Russian Journal of Money and Finance, announced the results of the Competition and presented certificates to the winners.
